Mingsong Li participated in a Peking University salon and gave a presentation titled “AI Explorations in Deep-Time, Deep-Space, Deep-Earth, and Deep-Sea Research.”

In the talk, Li described AI explorations across deep-time, deep-space, deep-earth, and deep-sea research. The examples ranged from reconstructing the orbital evolution of the Solar System through Bayesian inversion of stratigraphic sequences, to using Transformer models and data assimilation to reveal climate sensitivity and ocean acidification states. Together, these studies demonstrated the great potential of AI for decoding the complex histories of Earth and planetary systems, while linking geological records, climate dynamics, ocean chemistry, and planetary evolution across deep time and space.
